The benefits of content marketing

The word marketing is on a piece of paper

What are the benefits of content marketing - Content Marketing is an affordable way for businesses to market themselves online, and has many benefits:

Content marketing builds customer engagement

Very little of non-trivial vale gets sold without the buyer having a conversation with the business first, and it’s basically up to you to kick these conversations off. Putting out interesting, thought-provoking, fun, edgy and just-plain-useful articles is a brilliant way to start conversations off with people who are interested in what you do, but not necessarily ready to buy.

  • 90% of consumers find custom content useful.
  • 70% of consumers prefer to learn about a company through articles, not ads.

Your prospects will appreciate the information you put out as it will help them decide what and when to buy, and will keep your business in mind when they make that decision.

Content Marketing is great for SEO

“Content is King” according to Google. It’s well known that a website with lots of relevant content on it will do better in searches than more lightweight sites, in fact Google are so keen on content that they’re rolling out a special section in the search results for “in-depth articles” of over 2000 words.

Google also rewards sites which have multiple links back from different channels such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other blogs and websites, so multiple-channel content marketing is very much something every company should be doing.

Content marketing draws in more marketing

Content marketing also allows you to pick up traffic for those “long tail searches”, such as “pain-free laser hair removal” rather than “beauty salon”, that actually account for around 50% of all searches relevant to your business… and which you’re probably currently missing out on.

Content marketing promotes your expertise

By providing sensible, useful information about your products, services and business niche you are positioning yourself as an expert in your field, in fact you’re proving it in the quality and range of the information you put out. This gives confidence to your prospects as they consider their purchases.

Content marketing gives you an edge

There might be dozens of other companies out there who do what you do and are as qualified and competent as you, but… they’re not putting this content out, and you are, so you’re the business that will get the kudos, the prospects and the leads. There’s still an edge to be had here.

Content marketing benefits are long lasting

Whilst it costs time and/or money to produce good content and distribute it, it basically lasts forever. It won’t be tomorrow’s chip paper; in fact the value of good content improves over time as people discover, share and bookmark it. It’s an investment that should continue to pay dividends long-term.
